Waste? A serious matter
Every bottle, can, and piece of paper matters: paying attention to every little thing is how we protect the environment. The evocative nature and views attract countless visitors to Monte Generoso. That's why we dispose of visitors' empty bottles in recycling stations. In addition, we use certified paper and purify waste water. In short, we take waste seriously!
Separate waste collection
The best gift for our visitors? Enabling them to act in a way that's green and responsible. Separating waste is essential. Since 2021, the Ferrovia Monte Generoso has installed recycling stations in place of traditional bins: the measure, funded by the Myclimate foundation, has received praise from PET-Recycling Schweiz, the company that disposes of PET in Switzerland.

Bellavista phyto-purification plant
We have thought about every aspect of sustainability, including wastewater treatment. The sun, the lush plants that grow next to the Buffet Bellavista, and the microbiological flora in the soil: this is all we need to purify the wastewater of the 25 guests at our restaurant every day. With no emissions and maximum efficiency!
KITRO system
In our restaurants, we have adopted the 'KITRO' system, an advanced solution for measuring and monitoring food waste within our facilities. This innovative system tracks every wasted ingredient, identifies areas of loss and helps us to implement targeted actions to reduce food waste. By integrating KITRO into our daily operations, we are taking concrete steps towards more sustainable management, actively contributing to reducing our ecological footprint and preventing food-wasting!
